FAQ

Student safety is our number one priority.  When picking up a student prior to the end of the school day, I.D. must be shown in order for your child to be released.  Thank you for your cooperation and cooperation and help with this important safety procedure. 

Sunset School offers an amazing Middle School option for students and families in grades 6th through 8th. Sunset Middle School boasts some of the highest academic marks of all of the middle schools in Ventura and Ojai.  Students learn in a small school setting where their teachers know them extremely well.  Experiential learning through field trips, student council, volunteerism and a variety of elective and extra-curricular activities allows for an amazing middle school experience.  Please call the office to set up an appointment to learn more,  or to come and take a tour!  There will be a Middle School information night in January each year, more information to follow!  

All Ventura Unified schools participate in the healthy schools project.  Bringing sugary treats to school like cupcakes and cookies is not permissible on our campuses. We encourage parents to bring healthy treats and birthday items.  You can find some suggestions at the this link!

We love to have our families join in our school community!  Please talk with your teacher about helping in the classroom, chaperoning a fieldtrip, coming to play for “Fun Friday”, being a guest speaker or helping with Art Trek!  When you visit the campus please be sure to stop in the office and sign in and wear the “Sunset Visitor Badge”. 

Many Sunset Students attend the ASES YMCA after school program.  The YMCA services students in  grades 1^st through 5^th. If you would like to learn more about the YMCA please call the office at (805) 649-6600.

Many students also attend the Oak View branch of the Ventura County Library after school.  There is free homework help at the library after school, in addition to so many resources and wonderful books!  Take a look at the flyer below.
